What is Mind Explorer?
I’m Shireen Anne Jeejeebhoy, a Psychology Today blogger, a brain injury-website creator, author of novels and non-fiction, and explorer of the mind. I fell in love with writing as a young child, writing poetry, putting on plays for my parents. Short stories became my thing before two drivers concussed my brain; novels after I relearned how to write. I’ve been documenting my recovery from brain injury in books and blogs for almost two decades and sharing the neuroscience of brain injury and effective neurostimulation treatments. The brain, though, is not the mind. I know, I know, many literalists believe it to be so. But I experienced the dualistic nature of mind and brain.
Descartes famously hied off to the country to meditate on the mind in isolation, commanding friends to visit for extensive discussions of his idea. Alas, I have no country estate. Instead, I’ll meditate here from the three perspectives of theology, philosophy, and neuroscience.
My intention is to post monthly — I may even write weekly — but being a person living with brain injury, my fatigue sometimes smashes my intention into smithereens and grins at its scattered remains. So it’ll probably be erratic, kind of like an injured brain struggling to function under the mind’s commands.
